Description

The goal of the vertebrate and invertebrate lessons in Montessori education is to help children categorize and classify animals into two groups: those with backbones (vertebrates) and those without (invertebrates). This process encourages them to organize information and develop scientific thinking skills.

The Vertebrates and Invertebrates Charts include the following vertebrates and invertebrates: Chordata, Aves, Reptilia, Mammalia, Amphibia, Pisces, Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Nematodes, Mollusca, Annelida, Arthropods, and Echinodermata.

Includes:

  • 1 control chart (labeled)
  • 1 labeled chart (no pictures)
  • 1 blank chart
  • 22 photographic cards (to build the chart)

The picture cards can be printed twice and made into 3-part cards (cards with labels, cards without labels, and labels). To use three-part cards, match the labels to the corresponding pictures. Verify the matches using the control cards with the labels.

Cards with labels are approx. 3½" x 3¼", cards without labels are approx. 1" shorter. Charts print out on 8½" x 11 paper.
