Description

Somehow we have to feed the world's growing population and become more sustainable. Is vertical farming how we can best do that? Vertical farming is the practice of growing crops in vertically stacked layers. It often incorporates controlled-environment agriculture, which aims to optimize plant growth, and soilless farming techniques such as hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics.

Students will learn:

- the population is rapidly growing

- we're going to need a lot more farms to feed the planet

- in a lot of places, farming is almost impossible

- some of the lands we can use for farming is disappearing

- how vertical farms save space

- what it takes to build vertical farms

- how vertical farms could be the future and help save the planet

Format:

This worksheet comes in multiple formats so you can use it in any teaching situation!

- Google Slides for Google Classroom

- Digital-PDF for electronic sharing or easy printing

- Video is hyperlinked directly into the guide for easy access (about 6 minutes long)

- Short answer and reflective questions

- Answer key included
