Virtual Classroom Background [China]
Share

Description

A virtual classroom background is a powerful way of enhancing your classroom experience. The best thing about virtual classrooms is they can be designed in pretty much any way you could imagine and can be used to deliver pretty much any content you want to cover. I designed this virtual classroom as part of my Classrooms Around the World series to bring culture to the classroom and provide opportunities for teaching tolerance through my classroom experience.

> In this classroom, students will travel to China! The classroom includes 31 active links for students to explore the country. While *visiting* this country, students will:

  • Explore the Eastern philosophies of Wu Wei and Lao Tzu
  • Learn secrets to help with reading Chinese
  • Contemplate what makes the Great Wall so extraordinary
  • Discover famous festivals, such as Lunar New Years and Mid-Autumn festival
  • Consider what's driving tigers toward extinction
  • and so. much. more!

>> How you use this virtual classroom is pretty much limited only to the extent of your creativity. You can plan on introducing one "Classroom Around the World" per week. You could incorporate it into your bellringer routine. You can use the links within the classroom as a springboard for lesson content and activities. You could also share it and encourage independent exploration as an extension activity. The possibilities are endless!

>>> Since this virtual classroom is highly visual, it can be used for grades K-12. The links I've included in the classroom can be considered appropriate for most of these grade levels, but were chosen with intermediate elementary through early high school in mind.

The classroom itself is not editable, but the links can be edited and changed by you, based on what works best for your student group.

⭐️Spark student interest and increase student engagement using this virtual classroom [and others in the series!], while exposing students to new ideas and opening the door for new learning opportunities to happen!

⭐️⭐️⭐️[Creativity. Tech Literacy. Growth. Tolerance. Culture.] These are my Big Five. They are the foundation of my classroom experience. This resource was inspired by my Big Five. I can help you discover yours too! ➝

I used this as a supplement to my Ancient China unit for a look at the combination of ancient and modern culture and my students love it! There are so many links to videos, websites, and books that engage students in learning something new about a culture they aren't too familiar with. Thank you!

This was used as an added resource for parents to explore with their students at home. They seemed to enjoy this, nothing but positive feedback from those who explored with their child.

My students love this resource. I was able to add it as a banner in our learning LMS and my kids love being able to click the links and learn about the various places. Each subject is a different place and I switch them out from time to time to keep it fresh...! Thank you so much!!

This resource was great, but in the end I went with a different direction with my lessons. I plan on using this in the upcoming school year.
