Description

Students will compare disturbed and undisturbed (by pollution) ecosystems by participating in a virtual stream study. Macroinvertebrates (aquatic worms, crayfish, dragonfly nymphs, gilled snails, lunged snails, and stonefly nymphs) will be seined and sorted to create data for a municipal water report in this digital activity. Students will use information about pollution intolerance to make decisions about the health of the tested sites. This product was created for use with Google Slides™️. In the editing mode students will be able to utilize drag and drop and type to interact with the lesson. Students need to be able to view the presentation in edit mode so this activity may not work well on mobile or tablet devices.

It is suggested the topics of biodiversity, food web interactions, and indicator species be touched on before this activity is used.

Life saver during distance learning. I liked that it worked without flash - many of the other simulations I had used in the past required flash.
