Description

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce visual patterns and linear functions to your algebra 1 students? This visual linear pattern scavenger hunt activity will have your students writing the function rule for a given pattern in no time.

Your 8th grade students will demonstrate their understanding of the relationship between a linear model, linear rule, table of values, and linear graph. Students will then calculate how many items are at position 50.

This is a great introduction to writing linear equations activity for partners or groups of 3. It will get your whole class out of their seats and engaging in the learning.

This activity includes 2 class examples to work through with your students prior to beginning the activity.

This activity includes 2 versions. One version uses the terminology rule and the answer is expressed as an expression. The second version asks students to determine the equation in slope-intercept form (y=mx+b).

There are also 2 different types of answer pages. the first includes a table, graph template, rule/equation and position 50. The second just asks for the rule/equation and position 50.
