Students create a composition that includes a musical instrument drawn in black and white (graphite) and and lines, shapes, colors (etc.) that represent a certain musical style around the instrument drawn in color (colored pencil). Some of my students have done this in watercolor, pastel and marker and it works great with those mediums too. It takes us 8 45 minute class sessions to complete this project.
