Students will create Vocabulary Flags at the beginning of the year as an ice breaker. They will select a grade level appropriate vocabulary word and define it using a picture and a slogan. This activity can be completed independently or cooperatively. I use this to help select my cooperative learning groups at the beginning of the year.

These flags can be used throughout the entire year when the current lesson includes the vocabulary words. It also looks great as a word wall!
