Description

Using the Frayer model to learn and teach new vocabulary words is a researched proven way to explore and learn new words.
In my class, we use this model throughout the week and add to it each day. For example, I might introduce my words on a Monday, and as a class we come up with a student friendly definition. On Tuesday, we find synonyms, Wednesday- antonyms, Thursday- find a picture, and Friday- write a sentence using the word in context. My kids love that we can add to it, and really enjoy finding the pictures.

HOW TO USE:

After you purchase, TPT will allow you to make a copy of the template. Put YOUR vocabulary words in the circles in the middle. Students will do the rest! There are currently 6 slots, but you can add more slides by copying and pasting a current slide. Change the color by selecting “background” and choosing a color you like.
If assigning in Google Classroom, make sure you “make a copy” for each student. Then it will live in their google drive and in google slides.
If you are not using Google Classroom, use the “share” feature and share with each of your students. Have students “make a copy” for themselves.

I hope you enjoy my product! Any questions and you can email me at katherineclaireadams@gmail.com

I used this in my technology classes for basic vocabulary bell work. Some of my vocabulary didn't have synonyms or antonyms so I told my students to simply write none in those boxes so that I knew they had done them. It was very helpful because it made the students think about the words in order to write sentences using the words.

I am a Master teacher and I support ELA teachers in grades K-5. I used this as a model for teaching a lesson. This is a great tool.
