"This was a great craft to review vocabulary and the steps of eruption process of a volcano. Students were able to use choice of supplies and freedom to design on their own. We read a passage about volcanoes and then students labeled the visual to describe the text. "

A great writing craft

This volcano writing craft is a fun and engaging way to combine science and writing for elementary students. I really like how it allows students to be creative while also demonstrating their understanding of volcanoes. The hands-on aspect helps keep students interested, and it’s great for visual learners. One suggestion would be to simplify or break down the writing portion into smaller steps for younger or struggling students, as it could feel a bit overwhelming all at once. Overall, this is a creative and effective activity that I would definitely use in my classroom.

This volcano craft was such a fun and engaging addition to our landform unit! My students were so excited to create their own volcanoes, and it naturally led into meaningful writing about natural disasters. I love when an activity combines hands-on creativity with academic learning — and this one did exactly that. It kept my students engaged while reinforcing important science and writing skills!
