This Mini-Unit has everything you need to teach your students about Volcanoes. It includes a creative flipbook to guide students in learning about volcanoes, and a self guided research project for your students to research a famous volcano.
Volcano Flipbook
Use it:
1. In class as direct instruction
2. As a fun distance learning activity to complement your Earth Science unit
3. As part of an interactive notebook - Instead of creating a flip book, allow the students to cut out the different components and glue them into interactive notebooks.
Volcano Topics Covered:
1. What is a volcano
2. Volcanic Activity - Active, Dormant, Extinct
3. Types of Volcanoes - Stratovolcano, Cindercone, Shield Volcano
4. Parts of a Volcano - Layers, Conduits and Vents, Magma Chamber, Eruptions, Ash Cloud
There are three options for student note taking:
1. Completely filled in (also to be used as the teacher guide)
2. Cloze notes - Students fill in only key vocabulary
3. Blank lines - also a great opportunity to adapt the material specifically for your students
