Description

Do you need some help teaching your 4th-5th graders volume? This engaging Google Slideshow helps you teach 6 different volume skills and is ready to go with step by step directions for students!

If you are getting ready to teach a unit introducing volume, these lesson slides will be a timesaver! Just work your way through the skills you need to teach. Many of the slides are animated and editable.

The following skills are presented:

  • Finding volume by counting cubes (watch out for those hidden ones!)
  • Finding volume by cutting a rectangular prism built with cubes into layers and multiplying cubes in a layer by the number of layers (decomposing layers)
  • multiplying length x width x height
  • volume with words
  • Finding the missing side when given volume and 2 side lengths
  • volume of composite figures (additive volume)

Much of this is editable so add your own measurements, Bitmoji or other images for some fun! You decide which concepts to teach and which slides to use. Includes a few slides using decimal numbers.
