Engage students in the idea of water percolation with the dissection of a water filter! In this activity, students will take apart and label the pieces of a water filter. This product leads students into the first steps the Engineering Design Process through inquiry, with the intention to eventually build their own water filters. The water filter dissection can be scaffolded anywhere from teacher-led to collaborative grouping. It all depends on the ability of your students and amount of water filters you have available.
