Description
This course will help you build your wayfinding skills and learn how to navigate with confidence. Your journey will begin by looking up at the sky, using the seasonal and daily movement of the stars and sun to to figure out where you are. Next, you’ll learn how to use a timeless navigation tool: the magnetic compass. By the end of the course, you’ll put everything together by designing your own navigation-based treasure hunt to show what you know!

1) What is Navigation? Activating prior knowledge
2) The North Star: Polaris points and paragraph writing, natural navigation
3) Seasonal Movement of Constellations: Cartesian planes, coordinate pairs, transformations
4) The Sun: natural navigation, sundials
5) The Magnetic Compass: magnetic lab and model
6) Magnetic Compass Basics: compass use, compass mathematics
7) Wayfinding Treasure Hunt Summative Task
