Description

There’s no better way to learn about charts and graphs than to create authentic ones! This charts and graphs set focuses on collecting weather data, something that all students understand and all teachers have access to a variety of data on the topic. These are great to use during a weather unit in science, for beginning of the day calendar math programs or for a math unit teaching charts and graphs. Blank templates are included and can be used for any type of chart/graph that you may need for your students.

Data to collect focuses on highs and lows in temperature, type of precipitation and cloud coverage. These templates can be used as a student graphing journal or for posters for a bulletin board.

Charts and graphs included:
Table for recording data
Pictograph (picture graph) templates, both landscape and portrait
Pictograph (picture graph) picture cards
Bar graph templates, with scales counting by 1s, 2,s and 3s.
Line graph templates with various temperature scales (Fahrenheit only)
Blank template for picto (picture), bar and line graph

These charts and graphs are created by Martha Hach from “The Owl Spot.” Your purchase entitles you to a single license for your own classroom. This is exacly what I needed for a weather suppliment for our Saxon Math. My 3rd grader can keep track and make more in depth graphs and my 1st grader likes to help with the daily weather. I laminated one of the pages and the little squares and we use velcro to stick a new one on each day. Thank you for making that process easier for me. :)

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than in another.
Draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set with up to four categories. Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
