Web For Business - Bundle 1 - Introduction/Tools
An introduction to the Web For Business course.
Students learn programming skills while developing their own resumé website. This bundle includes learning/assessment activities that can be completed by students in 1-2 weeks.
This bundle includes:
- Three interactive tutorials
- Video for students - Using Screencast-O-Matic
- Two quiz banks (31 questions)
- Class introduction PowerPoint
- Specifications for Project: Tool
- Class support documents (syllabus, assignment map, course requirements)
This bundle covers one week of student activities.
Tutorial: Writing Effective Emails - Five steps on writing a professional email that gets action.
Tutorial: Zip & Unzip - An interactive lesson showing students how to compress files on both Windows and Mac. This skill is used throughout the rest of the course.
Tutorial: Using Cloud9 - This cloud-based development environment allows students to program in a variety of languages including HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript, and PHP. This PowerPoint tutorial shows students how to sign up and use Cloud9 to create web pages and share their work with the teacher.
Using Screencast-O-Matic - Video showing students how to create their own video using the free Screencast-O-Matic web app.
Classroom Presentation PowerPoint Notes highlighting key points for this module. (16 pages)
31 quiz questions covering the syllabus and the zip/unzip content. Includes an answer key. Questions are in the Moodle GIFT text format making it easy to import into your LMS.
Project Specifications for Project: Tool. Includes the relevant learning objectives (from the syllabus) and specific criteria for your students. You can edit the document using Microsoft Word or use a text editor.
A bonus article: Learning (Your First Job) by Robert Leamonson, PH.d. Fairly blunt suggestions to students about their approach to learning. This is a great assignment for online discussions. (Students can highlight their favorite concept and explain why.)
