Description
This is a very fun assessment/project that provides students the opportunity to explore the creative world of web design while working through the process of the Design Cycle. The Unit Question students are working towards is as follows: How can I use technology to properly and safely communicate? Students have the awesome opportunity to create a website about an approved topic using a free online program called Weebly. This bundle includes the teacher directions, student directions, brainstorming sheets, design sheets, planning sheets, source documentation sheet, planning sheets, evaluation and reflection sheet and three different rubrics on content, design, and reflection. In addition to the directions and rubric, students also complete a design journal to document their work while they are designing and creating their website. This design journal allows students to brainstorm ideas for their website, draw designs of what the website might look like including themes, layout, and color, record their plan for each day, and reflect on the progress they made while they worked each day. This design journal helps students to take ownership of their work, hold them accountable for their time, and give them a chance to reflect on the process of designing and creating a storybook. At the culmination of the project students can present their websites to the class and share their URL's with family and friends and they can be posted on the school website as well. This project can also be easily differentiated by adding more or less requirements in terms of the number of pages that are required, depth of text etc. Weebly is designed for classrooms and as a teacher you can create multiple classes, set passwords and monitor all student work.
