Every Monday, both of my classes start out with a weekend reflection. I stole this idea from my mentor teacher in student teaching. It allows my students to tell me about their weekends first thing in the morning, and it allows me to see what kind of weekend they had so I can be better prepared to manage them that day. A lot can happen over the weekend, good and bad, and this allows my students to share that information with me in a safe place. This is especially helpful for my students who are more shy. I love reading them and asking questions about what happened before we "officially" start our day.
