I am always trying to think of different ways to manage and hold my students accountable for their weekly reading homework. Reading at home is absolutely key to reading achievement and growth. Attached is a weekly reading log I use with my third graders that could easily be used and adapted for students of various grade levels. I incentivize quality work through reading beads that my students earn in two ways: 1) for reading for at least 100 minutes per week 2) for quality work on their reading summaries. I have included a simple rubric on my reading log so my students know what my expectations are for quality work.
