Description

Students will learn what a Punnett square is and why we use them through this virtual lesson.

Students should have a prior knowledge of the words phenotype, genotypes, dominant, recessive, homozygous, and heterozygous (although they are reviewed in this lesson).

Students will watch a video tutorial while they work through the same cross that is in the video. They will then work through progressive levels of practice problems.

The activity ends with a choice board of nine various practice activities (I do not own the rights to the games/activities, they are just linked.

This resource also comes with teacher directions and an answer key.

Develop and use a model to describe why asexual reproduction results in offspring with identical genetic information and sexual reproduction results in offspring with genetic variation. Emphasis is on using models such as Punnett squares, diagrams, and simulations to describe the cause and effect relationship of gene transmission from parent(s) to offspring and resulting genetic variation.
