Description

"What's in the Box?" is an improvisation/movement exercise that challenges students to follow a prompt to carry a box from one location to another in front of a class. The goal is to carry the box in such a fashion that the class correctly deduces what the prompt stated. The file includes forty prompts that require the students to use all five senses to demonstrate the prompted suggestion. This was a really fun warm-up activity for my semester long Drama Basics class. My class has 37 students so I did add a few of my own. The class especially liked trying to guess what was in/on the box each time.

I used this resource with my Theatre Club students after school. They really enjoyed acting out the different scenarios involving the box and it was incredibly fun to watch. This resource is amazing and works for multiple grade levels. I would definitely recommend it for any kind of drama or theatre class.

Loved this as a first year drama teacher with no qualifications. I'm primarily teaching English, but in a rural school, they like to add additional responsibilities. Thank you!
