WHICH RHYME?

Created by Heather Bates, SLP

Clip art by: PinkCatStudio

This activity created by Heather Bates, SLP was designed to assist in developing the phonemic awareness skill of rhyming. There are 2 levels of difficulty. Slides 3-32 have 3 pictures, 2 of which rhyme and slides 33-44 have 4 pictures, 3 of which rhyme. Data sheets are provided on the last 2 pages of the Power Point.

HOW TO USE:

  • Copy and laminate Whole Class Assessment Cards
  • Pass out Whole Class Assessment Cards and a manipulative (M&M, block, Hershey Kiss, Fruit Loop, Goldfish, etc.)
  • Show slides on SmartBoard as a Power Point Presentation
  • Say what each picture to ensure knowledge of vocabulary
  • Have students place manipulates on the numbers that correspond to the pictures that rhyme – this is a good way to assess skills of the whole class all at once
  • Once students have shown their answer discuss what the correct answer may be and then show on the slide with the animation.
