We put our favourite winter activities into one bundle that will make your kids think they are having fun, but they are actually thinking and working. This is a great addition to your classroom during winter, especially if you're looking for themed activities that are not Christmas.
Winter Puzzles, Games and Activities:
- word games that develop skills such as alphabetizing, word finds, brainstorming, designing and similes, Sudoku, and letter codes.
- 5 logic puzzlers that use logic skills and deductive reasoning to solve puzzles.
- answer keys.
- 15 different writing prompts organized so students can choose between expository, persuasive and narrative styles over five days.
- winter themed writing papers for students to use to display their writing
- a Google Slides version for most of the activities. Some design challenges are difficult digitally, so they have been adapted or aren't digital.
Winter Types of Sentences includes:
- a detailed lesson plan on the types of sentences. Students will learn about interrogative, exclamatory, declarative and imperative statements along with different types of punctuation used for each type of sentence.
- three different versions of student interactive notebook templates. One version does not require cutting and pasting. This page can be used as a reference page in your language arts books.
- photographs of templates completed by students to use as examples.
- 24 winter phrases to review the different types of sentences (task cards).
- task cards that come in colour or ink-saving paper options, a Google Slides version and a Google Forms version which is self-grading. There are detailed instructions to use each format.
- two versions of an easy-to-use answer recording page so you can differentiate for your students.
- answer key.
- Canadian spellings.
Let It Snow! Collaborative Poster:
- a collaborative poster that makes a great winter bulletin board or winter door decor.
- suggestions for how to run the activity with your students.
- sets in 18, 24 or 36 pieces, so you can use them with any size class.
- simple instructions for your students.
- overview image to show where each piece fits into the final poster.
- pieces with different levels of detail so you can differentiate slightly.
- assembly instructions with tips for making the process as easy as possible.
- follow-up activities to extend learning or use with early finishers.
- a vertically oriented poster. Final poster sizes depend on your printer settings, but the approximate sizes are 18 pieces 60 by 90 cm, 24 pieces 72 by 108 cm and 36 pieces 80 by 135 cm.
