Description
This Winter CVC Words center is such a fun CVC activity for your Winter centers, small groups, and morning work! Just perfect for helping your learners to build, spell, and write CVC words by putting snowflake letters in the correct beginning, middle, and ending sounds order to spell the word!
Students will love the included spelling mats and you will love the ability to differentiate for your learners using the mats!
Are some students only able to hear the beginning and ending sounds? Then use the spelling mats with the vowel sound included!
Are some students ready to hear all 3 sounds of the CVC words? Then use the spelling mats without the vowel sound included!
Small Group Use: Give each student a mat (here is where you can differentiate for your learners depending on their level- some might have the mat with the vowel sound included and some might not!) Then show them a CVC snowflake picture and then can write the cvc word on their laminated mat (or slide the mats into wipe off sleeves!) Follow up with the included recording pages or send home as homework!
Literacy Center Use:
Place the materials into your center with the mats either laminated or in a wipe off sleeve. Students take a snowflake picture card and snowflake letters and spell the word or write the word using a wipe off marker. Use the included recording sheets as a follow up to the activity!
I have included the following in this resource:
50 CVC Snowflake Picture Task Cards (10 for each short vowel sound)
50 Snowflake Letter Tiles to coordinate with the cvc picture task cards
10 Work Mat or Spelling Mats - 2 for each of the vowel sounds- 1 with the vowel sound and 1 with no vowel sound.
2 different recording sheets - 1 has the vowel sounds grouped together ( all of the short a together, short e together, etc.) 1 has the vowels mixed
