"This was the best activity to use as we returned from an extended snow break. The kids were so engaged and begged for more. I need to find more of these for them. It was very easy set up and go! Highly recommend. "

Description

I am so excited to share this WINTER GAMES CHALLENGE I created for your students! This is just in time for the Winter Olympics. You will begin this activity with a short Youtube video that will challenge your students to solve the case of the missing medals. They will have to find out who took them, when they took them, and where they put them. To solve the case, students will work to complete 9 different task cards. The task cards are based on first grade standards in both math and language arts. Once they complete a task card, they will receive a clue. After they have all 9 clues, they will be able to solve the mystery. As a fun culmination, there are awards and headbands. There is a fun little story ending to explain what happened. This is similar to the who dunnit activities. There is also a link to a Google Slides version that you can complete as well. This would pair well with my Winter Games Activity.

There is nothing more my classes love each each than these Solve the Mysteries. I absolutely love the themes and how many literacy and math skills each cover. The kids get SO INTO IT and don't even realize they are brushing up and showing me their skills.

This was one of my students favorite activities this year! They were highly engaged to solve the mystery! I will say it required a lot of prep with the first use so that was discouraging for me, however I won't have to prep as much the next time I use it.
