This set of fun and challenging winter math enrichment riddles & center activities will give early finishers & all students the practice they need to become critical thinking experts using addition, subtraction, and place value!
HERE'S HOW MATH RIDDLE CARDS WORK!
Choosing from the possible answers provided on each of the cards, your students will determine the Secret Number by using a variety of math clues plus critical reasoning to eliminate all of the options except one - the Secret Number!
These riddle sets are themed for winter, not Christmas.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL GET IN THIS WINTER MATH SET. THERE ARE 72 RIDDLES IN ALL!
⛄ For mixed practice of addition, subtraction, place value, comparison signs, odd & even numbers, & early arrays: 24 riddle task cards, each with nine answer options from which to select. The cards are provided in both color and b/w, as well as a full-page format. Also includes a student recording page, answer key, and easy prep board game for more skills practice.
⛄ For two-digit addition with and without regrouping: two sets of winter math riddle cards, with 24 cards in each set. Each of these cards gives students four answer options. All of the cards are provided in both color and b/w, as well as a full-page format. Each of these two sets also includes a student recording page, answer key, and easy prep board game for more skills practice.
HOW WILL I USE THESE ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, AND PLACE VALUE RIDDLE ACTIVITIES WITH MY CLASS?
♦ Use in a math center for individual or partner work.
♦ Use for whole class review with your document camera.
♦ Use as enrichment or for early finishers
♦ Use as a skills review rotation, with students moving to stations around
the classroom solving the riddles, individually or with a partner
♦ Use for morning “bell ringers”
♦ Use the full page versions as morning work - engage your students right
from the start in fun and productive activities to prepare them for the day!
♦ The full-page riddles are a great way to introduce the cards, and to model the critical thinking skills required to solve them, like identifying key details, making inferences, and drawing conclusions.
