Description

This Winter Math Project will engage your students in a rigorous review of math standards, and they may not even notice!

As students embark on a winter vacation of a lifetime, they must track their expenses and other math-related tasks throughout their trip. They'll calculate how much elevation they gain while skiing, they'll plot a sledding path through multiple obstacles, they'll find the area and perimeter of their lodging (after they select which option is best for them). They'll figure out a schedule for tubing, make a map of the winter festival, and so much more.

This project is differentiated to meet the needs of students in grades 3-6. The main project is geared towards students in grades 5-6 while the differentiated version has been adapted to meet 3rd and 4th grade standards. I highly suggest picking and choosing which tasks will work best for your students! Please keep in mind that I design my math projects to be a rigorous and challenging way to engage students in learning and thinking about math!

This resource is WINTER THEMED and has no Christmas or Holiday elements. It can be used all winter long.

By request, this project now includes a METRIC version! Hooray!

These are such a hit with my "high flyers" in my fourth grade class - they work on it independently when they finish their classwork early (which is...daily). They love it!
