Description
This snowman glyph is an excellent winter activity for reading and following directions, and requires problem solving, communication, and data organization. The students color or put different items on a snowman based on information about themselves. Students are to finish the snowman glyph using the eight categories listed below.
- Head covering
- Mouth
- Mittens or Gloves
- Around the Snowman’s Neck
- Boots
- Broom or Shovel
- Buttons
- Name
At the end of the activity is a completed snowman glyph. Reading the completed glyph and interpreting the information represented is a skill that requires deeper thinking by the student. Students must be able to analyze the information presented in visual form. A glyph such as this one is very appropriate to use in the CCSS data management strand of math. An answer key is included.
The activity can be easily adapted for kindergarten by reading the directions to the children.
Do your students enjoy doing glyphs? They might like these as well:
- Back to School Glyph
- Fall Pumpkin Glyph
- Turkey Glyph with Questions
- Snowman Glyph with Questions
- Groundhog Day Glyph with Questions
- Pot of Gold Glyph
- Bunny Glyph for Spring or Easter
You can purchase all of my glyphs in a bundle. By buying the bundle instead of each one individually, you save about 20%. Check it out at:
