Description

Need students to practice phoneme manipulation with onset and rime? Need ways for them to read words in isolation and in context? Need activities all in one place? This is it. This Word Family Fluency Set has 4 levels of practice with 35 word families.

  1. Word Family Reading Strips - Students will read strips in a word family. The strips have a picture cue at the beginning. All strips are in full-color (paint chip style) and ink-saving black and white. Each strip has 6 words.
  2. Word Family Sentences - These sentence cards contain 5 words. They are mostly predictable text and sight word heavy. The cards also have the word in isolation on the left and in context on the right. These cards are also in full-color and black and white.
  3. Word Family Posters - These posters are 8 1/2 by 11. The rime in the middle with words and pictures around the rime. There are posters for all 35 word families. These are full-color. There are 3 posters with two options. These allow for teacher discretion.
  • -ed poster - One poster contains the word "med" and an illustration with pills and a medicine bottle. One poster does not.
  • -od poster - One poster contains the word "arthropod" and an illustration of a beetle. One poster does not.
  • -un poster - One poster contains the word "gun" and an illustration of a water gun. One poster does not.

4. Word Family Flip Books - These word family flip books are on one page. Students simply cut, stack and staple. These are in full-color and b&w.
