This document serves as both a guide for the educator and practice for the learner. It walks you through how to map words for each of the 8 syllable types. This document also gives a collection of words for every syllable type that you can practice on with your learners.

I have also included the syllable rule posters, folded card activity, and more practice (worksheets) for open and closed syllable mapping.

This work is based on Science of Reading and the Orton Gillingham Approach. It is also found in my phonics curriculum on sale in this store.
