This lesson plan is written to teach word problems on whole numbers using the Model Method. The Model Method for solving word problems are widely taught in primary schools in Singapore. By drawing a clear simple diagram, the word problem immediately becomes visual and less complicated than it sounds. This lesson plan is designed for about 40 - 50 minutes program, accompanied by a worksheet. To reinforce learning, the worksheet follows closely to the examples given. This is suitable not only for teachers, but also for parents to learn the skills and guide their kids at home.
