Description

Emphasize problem-solving skills AND prepare for standardized testing with these multiple choice math warm-ups! Use the detailed easy-to-follow solutions to build proficiency with applications! This set contains 45 problems plus 45 solutions written with your students in mind!

How many times have you been asked, “When am I ever going to use this?” Students clearly have difficulty understanding how the math skills they are learning will be used in real world situations. If they are to be successful in mathematics, students need to find relevance and purpose, giving them a reason to persevere. They need to practice applying what they have learned on a regular basis. Math teachers frequently say, “We all use math every day,” but do we give students enough opportunity in our classrooms to see that? Are we limited to one problem on the bottom of a worksheet each day?

Our multiple-choice math quizzes and/or math warm-ups were developed for teachers and their students by teachers based on their students’ needs. These exercises can be used either in distance learning or in the classroom via technology. Each exercise was designed to develop students’ skills as they apply what they’ve learned. Problem pages can be assigned as a daily quiz with students’ scores available (scored by Google) or as a daily warm-up with instant insight into students’ understanding.

This set contains 15 problem pages with 3 multiple-choice math word problems on each page, a total of 45 applications. Concepts include ratios & proportions, percent, rates (including d=rt and unit rate), scale, conversions, simple interest, probability/odds, fundamental counting principle, permutation, mean, median, mode, range, recognizing patterns, writing & solving an equation, slope, and linear functions. Some questions require students to analyze various data displays such as pie graphs. Other problems involve geometric concepts such as perimeter, surface area, similarity, and Pythagorean Theorem. These warm-ups are appropriate for students in any 8th grade math class. These are essential skills for students in any high school math course.

When these exercises are used as math warm-ups, students will receive feedback as well as detailed solutions for each problem. If students are working independently, they should be able to use these descriptive solutions to identify their errors and revise their thinking. The tools are available to help them correct their mistakes and modify their understanding.

Use our warm-ups on a daily basis to consistently apply what they have learned (and help students to prepare for standardized tests)!
