Description

Challenging word problems involving fractions and/or mixed numbers. Students will have to add, subract, multiply, or divide and often do a combination of operations since most problems are multi-step. Designed for 7th and 8th grade students to review concepts at the beginning of the year, but could be used with advanced 5th and 6th graders as well.

This product an be used multiple ways.

  • Direct instruction - Teacher displays each card/slide one at a time.
  • Distance learning - Teacher makes Googe slides available to students individually.
  • Partner practice - Teacher places cards around the room and students pair up to work

on cards.

There is also a "Mystery Message" for students to figure out using code letters from their answers for each card that adds a self-checking element to the cards. There are a total of 15 cards. If you don't have time to have students do all 15, students can be assigned cards and share code letters with classmates to complete the mystery message.

I have made two versions available to you, an online PDF and a Google Slides version. The Google slides version has text boxes added on the student answer sheet so that students can easily complete and return if they are distance learning.

I have included an optional work page for students to use rather than showing their work on notebook paper.

Please take a peek at each slide by viewing my preview.
