Do you use Words Their Way in your classroom? This packet is a great resource to give your students extra practice with their Words Their Way sorts! These sort and color pages ask students to look at each word and "color by rule", which is another fun way of sorting and dissecting each new word. This can be used as a literacy center or even leveled homework!

This file includes 50 different sort and color pages that are tailored to each Word Their Way sort in Word Sorts for Within Word Pattern Spellers. All the words chosen for these pages follow the same rules as Words Their Way, but I've tried to use different words than are included in the sort to force students to really look at the spelling patterns rather than rely on the familiarity of the sort.

Within these 50 sort and color pages, there are 20 different themes of beautiful graphics from KPM Doodles to keep your students' attention! My class loves them! Please note that the pictures do not correspond with the words, rather each page is "themed" with a variety of pictures that go together. This encourages students to use their word work knowledge to read the words rather than rely on picture cues.

-short- and long-vowel sounds
-contrasting short- and long- vowel sounds
-common long-vowel patterns
-less common long-vowel patterns
-R-influced vowels
-diphthongs
-beginning and ending complex consonants and consonant clusters

-homophones
