This Common Core math lesson teaches students how to write multi-digit numbers in expanded form. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for Common Core assessments. In this lesson, students will rewrite numbers into expanded form. Students will determine the real value of each digit and rewrite the number as the sum of the values of each digit. This is done to reinforce the actual value of each digit in the number. In addition to the lesson, there are four pages of independent practice with questions modeled after the Common Core assessment items.
