FREE!! Apple Counting!
Write the Room! Count the Room!
This is an apple themed math center. It is perfect for preschool and Kindergarten, as well as, special education instruction. It is appropriate for the school and homeschool setting.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.B.5 Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1–20, count out that many objects.
CCSS.Math.Content.K.CC.A.3 Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Objective: Students will actively move around the room to count the apple themed objects in the pictures. Students will then write the correct numeral next to the same picture on the recording sheet.
Materials:
Apple themed picture cards (pg. 3-5)
Recording Sheet (pg. 8)
Optional: I have included apples with numerals on them, so that you can use the cards to play memory, etc. (pg. 5-7)
Optional: Clipboards for students to carry around to record their numbers.
Procedure:
Print and laminate the cards for durability.
Tape the apple themed object cards around the room.
Students will take a clipboard and go around the room searching for the pictures on their recording sheet. When they find the correct picture, they will count the objects and write the numeral on the line beside the picture.
I have included extra cards with apples and numerals on them. You can use these to play a memory match up game with both sets of cards. Students will match the numeral to the correct number of apple themed objects.
I am so pleased to share some different center ideas with you. I am passionate about differentiation and believe that it is so important to make it easier for the classroom teacher to differentiate. I hope that my centers save you some time and provide your students with enjoyment!
Please leave feedback for my product. I am thrilled to receive your feedback, suggestions, and requests. I look forward to working with you!
