Practice writing in a FUN way! Students use a free online "daily holiday" calendar, pick a holiday and use one of the 25 Creative Writing Prompts to get started! Prompts are persuasive, dialogue-writing, news stories, narrative, etc. so a variety of writing styles will be incorporated and used!
This product includes:
✔️ 2-Pages listing the twenty-five prompts. Students can choose a prompt from the list for some writing freedom!
✔️ 25 individual pages with 1 prompt per page and writing lines provided. Teachers can choose a specific prompt for some/all students to write. Perfect for differentiated instruction, sub plans, or easy copies!
There are a variety of writing styles being incorporated in these prompts. Using an online "daily holiday" calendar, students choose a holiday and then pick a prompt.
Prompt Examples:
- Write a persuasive essay that supports either promoting or abolishing this celebration. Include at least 3 reasons for or against the day.
- Write a persuasive script for a 30-second radio or television advertising campaign. Let the audience know that the holiday is coming up soon, how they could prepare for it, ideas for celebrating the day, etc.
- Write a factual story for the news section of a local newspaper about an event that occurred on this holiday. Include two direct quotes from people that were involved.
- Create a symbol that is universally understood to stand for this holiday.
- Create two examples for each type of sensory imagery (sight, taste, touch, smell, and hearing) that could describe this holiday.
Students will love writing about unique holidays and teachers will enjoy the variety of writing styles that this product reinforces!
