"I love having these cards in my writing center. It allows them to have some independence when writing on their own. They do not stress out about spelling every word correctly and can focus on sentence structure. "

Writing Center Reference Posters

I created these posters for my own classroom after struggling with a writing display for years! In the past, I had a Writing Menu Display (which just took up wall space), a Word Wall with sight words (which my kids never used), and I had a cute clothesline with monthly word cards clipped up. I loved the look of the clothesline and word cards except I hated changing out the cards. In other words, the Autumn cards would be hanging up in May. YIKES!

I wanted something my kids would actually USE and also something that would be EASY for me. I transitioned to these word posters at the end of the school year and my kids started referencing them RIGHT AWAY! It was AMAZING! Also, if a student wants to write about Christmas during the month of February, they CAN. The posters stay up all year which makes it easy for me!

These posters are perfect for emergent and beginning writers because of the picture and vocabulary support.

If you don't have enough wall space, these posters are also available in a smaller size. You can put them on a ring and place them in your writing center, around the room, or at students' desks.

30 posters are included on the following topics (PLUS blank templates so you can create your own!)

Apples

America

Arctic Animals

Autumn

Forest Animals

Love these posters for when kids are writing independently. Minimizes the "how do you spell" questions and increases kids being responsible for finding how to spell a word correctly when you don't want them to just spell phonetically.

My students love using these as a reference in the writing center during independent work time. I print them out seasonally to go in our word binder!
