  • Week 2 - Writers write important facts. Students do a simple research project with a heavy emphasis on teacher modeling.
  • Week 3 - Writers write interesting facts. Students do a simple research project about a mammal and practice paraphrasing.
  • Week 4 - Writers write facts to inform. Students write facts about a habitat and there is a heavy emphasis on the purpose of a body paragraph.
  • Week 5 - Writers write facts to inform. Students are writing a biography about someone they know.
  • Week 6 - Writers write facts to inform. Students are writing a biography about someone famous with a review on simple and compound sentences.
  • Week 7 - Writers write instructions about how to do something. Students are writing a procedural text on how to do something that they know how to do. (This week everyone writes about the same topic.)
  • Week 8 - Writers write instructions about how to do something. Students are writing a procedural text on how to do something that they know how to do. (This week everyone writes about something they are an expert in.)
