This matching game will give your students an opportunity to practice writing equations from a phrase in an interactive way! Students can work individually or in groups as they utilize key words to determine which operation to use to write simple equations and extend their knowledge to solving one step equations.

Play two ways:

1. Use the first two sheets to have students match the phrase to the mathematical sentence.

2. For students who are ready to solve equations, play with all the cards for a trio of word phrase, mathematical sentence, and solving for x.
