Description

Writing a properly formatted email is an important social and vocational skill for adolescents and young adults. This lesson pack is designed to teach learners how to correctly format their emails, what to include in their body text, and when it is appropriate to respond to emails, all while paying attention to important details like timeliness, punctuation and spelling. The lesson includes an activity where learners can look at sample emails, determine whether a response is needed and determine the appropriate time to respond.

This lesson pack is most applicable with older students (high school, college, adult day support classrooms), due to the complexity of the subject. I have used this lesson in the past with older students on the Autism Spectrum.

Included in this pack:

- 1 lesson on writing formal emails in both PowerPoint and pdf format

- 1 checklist on writing formal emails and correct email format

- 1 handout on responding to emails in a timely manner

- 1 handout on knowing when to respond to emails

- 1 handout on writing the body text of emails

- 1 email format tracker sheet
