This file is for a SmartBoard lesson and a lesson plan to teach 4.W.2 (Write informative/explanatory texts with a clear topic and relevant details). I used this in my 4th grade classroom, but it can easily work for grades 3-6. This lesson took 2 days to teach (50 minute sessions). My students really enjoyed this lesson and I hope your students do too!
The SmartBoard lesson includes: An anticipatory set, objective, rationale, direct instruction (with vocabulary), graphic organizers, modeled paragraphs, Guided practice (with cooperative learning for groups of 4), and a closure.
