Ideas for Use:

I created these posters for my own classroom after struggling to use an effective Focus Wall for years! In the past, I had a Focus Wall, but I never changed any of the posters to reflect what we were learning in the classroom. In other words, our "Back to School" narrative poster would still be up in December (or even May!). Yikes.

I wanted something I would actually USE and something that my kids could refer to, as well. Having an example poster for each type of writing, plus a blank template so that we could work on writing together has been a game changer! The topics are ready to go!

I needed something EASY. I didn’t want to have to look for a poster and/or wipe off and write a new learning target every single week. And I certainly didn’t want to insert something into a sleeve each time or hole punch something, either. Just keeping it real! ☺️ I transitioned to these phonics posters last year, and KEPT UP WITH IT. The secret? I printed all of the posters and then kept them together on the Focus Wall with a binder clip. See the preview for pictures!

You could also:

Bind these into a book

Print 4 to a page, cut them apart, and keep them on a ring around the room

Print 4 to a page, cut apart, and have them in your writing center

Use them during guided writing groups

I LOVE the examples of the various forms of writing that can be shared with the children to help them understand HOW to write the various forms and the components that are needed in each. The children love the examples! I would like to have a copy of the blank writing sheets with no pictures so the children could then use the form to write and design their own illustration to go with their work. However, I still LOVE this resource! Thank you!

This resource is a great help to me personally because I am not a great writer. The examples given were great and I didn't have to struggle to come up with examples of my own.
