Writing Prompts (or 'talking prompts' as I use them) give a soft start to the school day and allow students to talk about their views, opinions and personal experiences. This does not typically take more than 10-15 minutes, depending on class size and how the conversation flows. This creates a bond between students and also the teacher-student relationship when learning new things about one another.

This document includes fun writing prompts such as "what is your favorite hobby?" and "what is your favorite fast food restaurant?" as well as more thoughtful writing prompts, like "what is your biggest dream?" and "if you could start up your own business, what would it be?"

There are 180 writing prompts included to get you through the school year, as well as an extra 10 ideas based on holidays and specific events going on for you and your school. This includes "what are your summer break plans?", "how was your field trip experience?" and more.
