Zero Exponents - Proof in the Pattern | Animated Lesson | Grade 8 Math
Share

Description

This animated Google Slide lesson is designed to bring energy and clarity to your classroom while helping students master key concepts in grade 8 math. With visually engaging animations and an easy-to-follow structure. It was used to create this video.

In this video lesson we will discover that zero exponents simplify to 1 and the proof is in the pattern! We will learn that any nonzero base with an exponent of 0 is equal to 1. Any power with a base of zero and an exponent of zero is undefined. We will look at the pattern that forms as an exponent increases by 1 as well as the pattern that forms as an exponent decrease by 1 to SEE why it makes sense that any value with an exponent of zero is equal to one EXCEPT zero. Student practice is embedded in the lesson with modeled exemplar solutions.
