Description
In the "bits" Pixel Art Images Activities, student learn about "bits" as a bit relates to computer science and bits as computer storage. The included activities help students progress from 1-bit to 2-bit pixel art images, challenge themselves with a 3 bit project.
1 "bit" allows students to only work with 2 colors (as a bit is only capable of storing to states, typically on or off).
With 2 "bits", they can work with a palette of four colors to create more complex and detailed pixel art designs.
Not only does the"bits" Pixel Art Images Activities help students understand what a bit is and what it can do, but it creates an excellent pathway to begin learning computer science concepts and further exploring various technology structures.
Additional Learning Outcomes include:
- Enhances fine motor skills as students color individual pixels.
- Develops creativity and visual thinking as students design characters, objects, or scenes.
- Introduces binary concepts as students use only two colors or four colors to represent images.
- Fosters patience and attention to detail as students work pixel by pixel.
These fun and engaging activities are sub-ready and provide students an great opportunity to begin working on much needed technology related skills.
Students that work on computer science and technology related projects demonstrate enhanced abilities in other disciplines.
