Description

This year I had the pleasure of teaching my first PLTW Design and Modeling class. There were days when I was absent or buffer days before new projects that needed to be filled with something. I decided to put together a list of 22 short creative, semi-open-ended projects to be completed in one class period. At the end of the presentation, there are solution-oriented tinkercad projects that would be best for older groups of students.

This is a great way for students to practice and hone their skills on tinkercad once they have finished the initial lessons. For information to get your class signed up and ready to go on tikercad, click here.

Tinkercad is a great way to introduce students to the design process and computer-generated models similar to what is used in architecture, construction, and engineering fields. It can be frustrating at first but I have used it with students as low as third grade.

There are so many opportunities for cross-curricular project ideas that can be modeled (and even 3D printed!) on tinkercad that I am sure you will be finding yourself adding more project ideas to this list.

happy tinkering!
