Description
This complete set of task cards for Topic 15 provides FUN extra practice for MOST lessons in Topic 15. The task cards can be used with partners, groups, or centers. These task cards are a perfect fit for Kagan Strategies and for a formal observation. Student engagement is extremely high to perfect when I use these materials. I have trained my class to be good “teachers” and “partners.” They discuss the problems using math language and strategies we have discussed to solve them. I reward them when I hear them discussing the problem. A popular question they ask each other is “How do you know..?
“Partner Pass” is one activity that I frequently use for my task cards. Partners solve the problem with a dry erase marker and erase. When they complete each problem, they put their head down. When all/most partners have finished the card, we pass the cards around the room in an “Around the World” fashion. I can easily walk around and assess understanding and give assistance as needed.
I write the answers on the back of each task card to make them self-checking. I also laminate them so that students can write directly on the cards and then erase them. I cut up Magic Erasers for easy erasing.
(Purchasing a small laminator is one of the best purchases you will ever make!!! They can be purchased at Walmart for around $20.
