Description
These problem tasks have been written to supplement the enVisionMATH "pose the problem" portion of the lesson. While some of the curriculum's "pose the problems" tend towards teacher-directed instruction, these problems present the same concepts in a real life story problem. Students can work on these problems individually, with partners, or in groups. Each problem task sheet contains and problem solving graphic organizer that supports students' comprehension of the problem and provides a structure for modeling and explaining thinking.
Working on problem tasks helps students develop the Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practice on a daily basis.
Formative Assessments can be used as an exit slip for daily assessment to inform instruction. A formative assessment checklist is provided and aligned with Common Core State Standards.
Included in this pack for Topic 9:
Lesson 1 problem task and formative assessment
Lesson 2 problem task and formative assessment
Lesson 3 problem task and formative assessment
Lesson 4 problem task and formative assessment
Lesson 5 problem task and formative assessment
Formative assessment checklist aligned to CCSS
*If you do not use enVisionMATH, these problem tasks and formative assessments can be used to guide a progression of learning how to compare and order numbers using place value knowledge.
