Content covers the scope and depth of agriculture as an industry, the history of agriculture, the differences in pure and applied sciences, how biotechnology is utilized in agriculture, and current trends in sustainability.

This unit lesson plan includes 5 90-minute lessons on the scope of agriculture, the history of agriculture, the difference in pure and applied sciences, current trends in agriscience, and a scientific method review.

These guided notes are intended for use with the Current Trends in Agriculture Slides available in my store. Notes cover the definition of sustainability, current sustainable practices in agriculture as well as current technologies used in plant and animal production.

Have students work in pairs to research a specific period of history and find important contributions to the agriculture industry. This project can also be used as a first step in having multiple classes create a collaborative Google Doc to illustrate a long-range timeline of agricultural history.

Use this graphic organizer to break down the eight major areas within the agriculture and natural resources industry with students. An example answer key is included, but this can be customized to suit the agriculture industry in your area.
