About the store
I taught 5 years in an international school in Chengdu, China. I spent 2 years teaching pre-Kindergarten, 2 years teaching Kindergarten (one year I taught a combine class of PreK-K), and 2 years teaching 1st grade. I developed a lot of my own curriculum, mostly centered around books. Though not technically in my job description, I was essentially an elementary ESL teacher with students from all over Asia, Europe, and a few from North America. I then spent a year teaching preschool in a private school in Chinatown, Chicago.

About the store

Experience

I taught 5 years in an international school in Chengdu, China. I spent 2 years teaching pre-Kindergarten, 2 years teaching Kindergarten (one year I taught a combine class of PreK-K), and 2 years teaching 1st grade. I developed a lot of my own curriculum, mostly centered around books. Though not technically in my job description, I was essentially an elementary ESL teacher with students from all over Asia, Europe, and a few from North America. I then spent a year teaching preschool in a private school in Chinatown, Chicago.

Teaching style

My teaching style is energetic, engaging, and fun. I enjoy teaching and finding ways to include the students in learning. I believe children learn best when they are loved and given encouragement to try new things. I am very intentional to use good books in every subject of learning because I know that a child who enjoys learning through books becomes an adult who enjoys learning through books. Education never stops as long as we keep learning!

My own education history

My Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education was earned from Cedarville University (Cedarville, OH). I also have a Graduate Certificate in Children's Literature from Penn State University.

Additional biographical information

My 20's were spent getting my education and traveling the world while teaching. My 30's have begun with marriage and motherhood and finding new ways to use my training and experiences to equip teachers, homeschoolers, and parents with tools to more effectively and creatively use books in the learning setting.
